Various passages of the Gosho refer to global propagation of Nichiren’s teachings, which are based on the Daimoku and the Gohonzon, among all people in the world. In his letter "The Teaching, Practice and Proof," Nichiren Daishonin wrote: “From a more profound viewpoint, the 'Lotus Sutra will spread throughout the ten thousand years of the Latter Day'" (Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, p. 474), and "'The Mystic Law shall spread and benefit mankind far into the future.' Does this annotation suggest anything other than the ten thousand years of the Latter Day of the Law?” (Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, p. 474). Inscribing the Dai-Gohonzon serves
to complete the mission predicted in the Lotus Sutra: “... the transmission
of Myoho-renge-kyo to all living beings throughout the land of Jambudvipa”
(Writings
of Nichiren Daishonin, p. 480).
