Q: Is there a way to examine the validity of the Dai-Gohonzon?
A: Nichiren established a system for proving the validity of any Buddhist doctrine. The logic that Nichiren introduced is based on the Three Proofs:

1. The Documentary Proof: requiring that the doctrine of a particular Buddhist school is based on or accords with the sutras (the Lotus Sutra in particular).

2. The Theoretical Proof: requiring that the examined doctrine is compatible with reason, displaying logical consistency with the intent and purpose of Buddhism.

3. The Actual Proof: requiring that the doctrine manifest its truth in the reality of the daily lives of ordinary people. "Nothing is more certain than the actual proof." (The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, p. 478)
