A Kosen Rufu Dream

The other day, I dreamed that most everyone in the world chanted. So SGI members would meet together and chant about and visit those who were still suffering in samsara.

The meeting that night was to be held at the Dupont Community Center. We had never been to the Dupont Community Center before, so I called for directions.

The voice on the other end said; “Take the subway to Dupont Circle. When you get to the top of the escalator follow the smell of incense … soon you will hear Daimoku.”

The Center was crowded.

After Gongyo, my wife and I were asked to visit a young Japanese man who hated the SGI, but loved the blues. We had to agree not to bring up the SGI or any religion when we met him.

It so happens that we love the blues. It didn’t take long before we were singing the blues together with the Japanese man.

By the third rendition of “Baby, whose muddy shoes I see?” he said: “OK! I will join the SGI!”
